Airsoft guns
Airsoft guns are types of air guns that resemble actual firearms. These shoot small plastic balls or pellets, which are 6mm or 8mm in diameter. Airsoft guns work with the help of spring, electric or gas. All of these, function on the common principle of, compressed gas filling out to propel a plastic ball or pellet through the barrel of the gun.
The three major types of airsoft guns are:
Spring-powered airsoft guns
These guns have single shot capacities. They utilize the potential energy of the spring to shoot a pellet or ball through the gun's barrel. The player needs to set the spring before each and every shot. Thus, these weapons are not capable of automatic firing and are not as effective as the electric or gas variants.
The greatest advantage of these guns is that they do not need to depend on any external source of power like gas or batteries.
Gas-powered airsoft guns
These guns utilize the force of compressed gas to propel balls or pellets. They can boast of both semi-automatic and automatic operations.
These weapons are preferred when there are size-limitations making electric-driven mechanisms unrealistic. These are also chosen when velocities need to be adjustable or when a blowback effect is wished for.
Electric airsoft guns
Two main types of electric guns are
Automatic Electric Guns: These guns utilize a rechargeable battery to run an electric motor. This motor rotates an internal assembly of spring or piston to shoot pellets or balls.
Hybrid Guns: These are the normal AEGs with a blowback feature and a round-per-shell operation.
